Marlene Zieah focuses her practice in the areas of tax and tax exemption. Marlene advises tax-exempt and for-profit organizations on the tax considerations of various transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and joint ventures. Additionally, Marlene partners with her clients, including health care entities and nonprofit organizations, and assists with obtaining and maintaining tax exemptions, unrelated business income tax exposure, property tax exemption applications and appeals, and corporate and partnership tax matters. Her practice also includes providing corporate governance counsel to nonprofit organizations, including drafting and reviewing bylaws and corporate policies and advising boards on their legal roles and responsibilities.
Before joining Hall Render, Marlene gained valuable experience as a tax manager at Ernst & Young, LLP, where she advised multinational companies on a broad range of international tax matters, and she later served as a tax attorney at the Internal Revenue Service.
