Abubaker Ali, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon who earned a medical degree from the University of Khartoum in Khartoum, Sudan. He completed his residency in general surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, advanced GI, and hepatopancreatic biliary at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Ali has been a faculty member at Wayne State University, teaching surgery since 2016 and has been an attending physician at the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center since 2022. Dr. Ali has also served as an attending physician at five Detroit, MI-area hospitals simultaneously since 2016, including Karmanos Cancer Institute. He is also a member of the Robotic Committee for the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. With extensive experience in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, he has become an expert in his field with multiple peer reviewed publications, book chapters, and presentations.
