Dr. El-Shafei is Board certified in psychiatry, neurology and addiction medicine.
He completed his medical training in Psychiatry at New York Medical College and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and as the Associate Director of Residency Training at New York Medical College.
Dr. El-Shafei is also Chief of the Addiction Medicine and Detoxification Unit at Metropolitan Hospital.
He treats a wide variety of disorders including heroin addiction treatment, suboxone and smoking cessation.
Dr. El-Shafei also oversees a complete Weight Loss Center treating both food addictions and eating disorders while utilizing psycho-pharmacology and promoting lifestyle changes and diet modification.
