Immigrants from the Mediterranean countries and Middle East have a long history of entrepreneurial success in the United States. They have contributed many things to the culture, as well as to business and cuisine.
The Kircos family has been baking bread in Detroit, Michigan for over 100 years. In 1981 the family decided to specialize in Mediterranean artisan pocket pita bread and started Sophia’s Bakery. After tremendous customer response, the business expanded the pocket pita lineup to include classic Greek flatbreads, thin buns, pita chips and other specialty pita offerings. We currently service major retailers such as Kroger, Meijer, Trader Joe’s, Aunt Millie's and many others. We also supply foodservice distributors.
